Narrative of the Young Shepherd

At the center of the enchanting rolling meadows, resided a young shepherd. His existence was essentially pure, and unsophisticated. His main role was mainly to look after his flock of sheep.

Their gentle baas and the whispering of the wind among the solo tree on the peak were his main associates. Day after day, guarding his charges imbued in him a sense of calm satisfaction.

But, there were occasional moments of loneliness, when the shepherd boy would pine for companionship. During one such occasion out of sheer read more monotony, the shepherd boy orchestrated a mischievous scheme.

Stories of wolves prowling on sheep had long been circulating in the town. So, the boy opted to used this fear and played a trick on the villagers.

One afternoon he raced into the village screaming “Wolf! There is a wolf that has taken my sheep!” The scared villagers sprinted up the hills to offer assistance but saw no wolf.

The boy laughed at the confusion on their faces. This game laughed for a couple of more days. But, one day, a real wolf actually attack the flock. The shepherd boy raced for aid shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed up.

Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but could protect only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he returned to the village only to receive a reprimand on honesty and the consequences of crying wolf.

The tale of this shepherd boy has been passed down generations as a mediaeval parable for teaching the value of honesty, the consequences of lying and the risks of false alarms. Moreover, it stresses how trust once lost, is hard to earn back. It's a story as appropriate today as it was in the past.
